I remember the day in College that I found a posting advertising a tutor position at the Douglas College Learning Center. My main concern at the time is that it would coincide with my student loan. I never dreamed that tutoring would become my career and passion in life! While working at the Douglas College Learning Center, I was mentored and Certified as a tutor under the top EASL instructors. I learned essential skills and tutoring methods that I still use 23 years later.
I am a also a BC Certified Teacher (UBCO 2008) and have experience teaching from Kindergarten to HighSchool. Currently, I am a High School teacher. Over the years, I have also tutored elementary, middle school, college, university and even business persons. My area of expertise is English. For younger students I am an expert at filling in the gaps and creating a strong understanding of sentence and paragraph structure, as well as basic grammar and writing skills. Middle school and high school students can also be missing important gaps in English knowledge that hinder their writing/reading/comprehension skills. From grade 8 to University, I am an essay expert, teaching students the simple essay writing process and helping them achieve the grades they desire and need, especially for graduation and College/University entrance.
Overall, I love tutoring! It is my passion, not a job! I have both experience and education that make me an excellent tutor choice!
